Why does Dutch cost more than Spanish?

Because far fewer people learn it. That is also why good Dutch material is so hard to find: most companies will not build a complete course for an audience this size. Pricing by demand is what lets us cover the languages they skip. Our most widely-learned languages are the cheapest, and the rarer ones cost more.

Why This Is the Fastest Way to Learn Dutch Vocabulary

Learn the Words That Actually Matter First

Dutch has an extensive dictionary, but native speakers use a small, high-frequency core in everyday conversation. Word frequency research by linguist Paul Nation at Victoria University of Wellington shows that the 2000 most common words account for 90% of everyday spoken Dutch. That's the principle behind this bundle: rather than learning vocabulary at random, you learn by frequency, so every word you add carries the maximum possible return. The 500 Picture Words deck starts with the most frequent, most visual words. The Top 2000 Words deck completes the high-frequency list. Together they give you the most efficient path to Dutch comprehension.

Solve the de/het Problem: Learn Articles Automatically

Dutch nouns take one of two articles: de (common gender) or het (neuter). Unlike gender in French or Italian, there are no reliable rules for predicting which article a noun takes. Native speakers learn it through exposure, not through rule-following. Most learners trying to memorize de/het separately find it doesn't stick under speaking pressure. The 500 Picture Words deck solves this: every card uses an image and article color-coding so you see the correct article on every single review. You absorb de/het as part of the word's identity in your memory, not as a separate fact. MIT research showed long-term memory can retain thousands of images with exceptional fidelity; this color-image system exploits that directly to solve what most Dutch learners consider the language's most frustrating challenge.

Comprehensible Input: Dutch Words in Real Sentence Context

Dutch has separable verbs whose meaning changes based on which particle is attached (opbellen = to call; bellen = to ring), and common words whose sense depends heavily on context. Linguist Stephen Krashen's input hypothesis shows learners progress fastest when they encounter language slightly above their current level in a comprehensible context. The Top 2000 Words deck presents every word in a Dutch sentence using only words from within the 2000-word list, so context is always understandable. Linguist Michael Lewis showed that learning words in real sentences, or "lexical chunks," produces faster recall and more natural output than word-list memorization. Every example sentence reflects authentic Dutch usage, including the natural patterns that isolated word study cannot capture.

Common Phrases Complete the System

Dutch communication has a directness that can feel abrupt without context, and certain fixed phrases are expected in specific situations regardless of vocabulary knowledge. The Common Dutch Phrases deck, exclusive to this bundle, covers the top 100 practical phrases for airports, workplaces, restaurants, phone calls, and everyday interactions. These ready-made structures give you confident speaking scaffolding while your grammar instincts are still developing, and help you sound natural from your first real Dutch conversations.
