Free Spanish Anki decks

AnkiWeb’s shared-deck library is the first place most learners look, and it is free. Search for “Spanish” and sort by rating. Before you commit weeks to a deck, check three things:

  1. Audio on every card. Without it, you learn spellings, not words you can say or hear.
  2. Sentences, not just single words. A word on its own is easy to recognise and hard to use.
  3. Who maintains it. A deck last touched years ago keeps its mistakes.

Two free decks with strong ratings on AnkiWeb, described from their AnkiWeb pages:

  • Spanish Top 5000 Vocabulary is the most-rated Spanish deck on AnkiWeb: 5,000 words in frequency order, each with a picture and audio. It was last updated in 2017, and the audio mixes European and Latin American accents.
  • 9000 Spanish sentences, difficulty sorted has about 9,000 sentences from Tatoeba with native audio, sorted from easy to hard. The speaker is from central Spain, and it was last updated in 2019.

If you are learning Latin American Spanish, check the accent: several of the most popular free decks use speakers from Spain.

The language-learning communities on Reddit (r/Anki, r/languagelearning) share and discuss decks too, and are a good place to ask whether a deck is still worth using.

Building your own deck

Making your own cards works, and some learners remember them better for having made them. The cost is time: a 2,000-word deck with audio and example sentences is weeks of work before you study a single card. If you go this way, add audio and a full sentence to every card, and use our guide to Anki for Spanish for settings.

The Speakada Spanish decks

We make Anki decks for Latin American Spanish in three layers: pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. The cards come with audio, the pronunciation, word and grammar decks show IPA, and the 2,000-word and grammar decks teach each word or rule inside a full sentence. If you find a mistake, email us and we fix it in the next version.

1. Pronunciation Bundle: $50

Three decks that set up the right sounds before bad habits set in:

  • Alphabet: every letter with audio and example words
  • IPA: every Spanish sound, so you can read the pronunciation of any word you meet later
  • Minimal pairs: 500+ pairs of near-identical words to train your ear for differences like the one between pero and perro

Spanish Pronunciation Bundle

Pronunciation errors set in early are nearly impossible to reverse. Three decks build the correct Spanish sound model from day one: the full alphabet, every IPA phoneme, and 500+ minimal pairs.

2. Vocabulary Bundle: $200

The words you will meet most often, in frequency order:

  • 500 Picture Words: common words taught with images instead of English translations
  • Top 2,000 Words: each word in a full example sentence
  • Common Phrases: everyday expressions for conversation and travel

Spanish Vocabulary Bundle

90% of everyday Spanish comes from just 2,000 words - these 3 decks cover them in frequency order: 500 Picture Words, Top 2,000 Words with full sentences, and Common Phrases.

Only want part of it? The 500 Picture Words deck ($100) and the Top 2,000 Words deck ($170) are also sold on their own.

3. Grammar Bundle: $300

Six decks from absolute beginner (A0) to advanced (C1). Each card drills one grammar rule inside a sentence, with the rule a tap away when you need it.

Spanish Grammar Bundle

Vocabulary gets you understood - grammar makes you sound educated. 6 decks cover every CEFR level from A0 beginner through C1 advanced - sentence-based flashcards drilling every key Spanish grammar rule until accuracy becomes automatic.

Or by level: Beginner, A0 to A2 ($170) and Intermediate and Advanced, B1 to C1 ($240).
