About Speakada

Science-based Anki decks for serious language learners — built by someone who's been in the field.

The Story

Speakada was founded in 2022 in Sydney, Australia. Over the past 4 years, we've helped more than 10,000 students in 40+ countries learn languages faster using the world's most effective study system — Anki spaced repetition.

The problem we solve is straightforward. Anki is the most powerful flashcard tool in the world, backed by decades of spaced repetition research. But a high-quality Anki deck — with audio, IPA transcription, example sentences, and a structured progression from beginner to advanced — takes hundreds of hours to build correctly. Most learners either use low-quality shared decks or give up before they start.

We did that work once, properly, so you never have to. Every Speakada deck is built on academic word frequency research, covers pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar as an integrated system, and follows a clear A0 → C1 progression with no gaps, no duplicates, and no guesswork.

Why Our Decks Work Differently

📊

Built on word frequency research

Every Speakada vocabulary deck is built on Paul Nation's most-frequent-words methodology. You learn the words that appear most often in real language first — not random vocabulary from a textbook. The top 2,000 words cover 95% of everyday speech. We start there.

🎯

Structured A0 → C1, not a shared deck

Shared Anki decks are made by individuals for their own use. They're inconsistent, incomplete, and rarely reach intermediate or advanced levels. Speakada decks follow a clear CEFR progression from A0 (beginner) to C1 (advanced) — same format, same quality, every level.

🧩

Pronunciation + Vocabulary + Grammar as one system

Most learners pick one area and neglect the rest. We built three interlocking deck types — pronunciation (minimal pairs + IPA), vocabulary (frequency-based words), and grammar (conjugations + structures) — so you can build the complete language system, not just one layer of it.

What Our Students Say

"This is great! I gave up learning Italian last year because I just couldn't handle making my own cards. So for your cards to get me to 90% plus Michel Thomas to help me understand the structure — I think I can get there (finally)!"

"Diverse methods of teaching and learning, from the visual to the vocal, and with a great system of evaluations, repetitions and recall, that makes it easy to learn without forgetting."

"I chose you because I wanted convenience, I don't have time to make the deck myself and you did a much better job. The cost of me making the deck, spending time vs the time to start learning makes it a great deal."
