Welcome to SpeakPrac! This Privacy Policy explains how Speakada LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information in relation to our mobile application and web application (“SpeakPrac” or the “App”). This policy applies to all users (“you” or “your”) of the App.
By accessing or using SpeakPrac, you signify that you have read, understood, and agree to our collection, storage, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Information You Provide Directly:
- Account Information: When you register for an account, we collect information such as your email address and password. If you sign up using a third-party service (like Google), we may receive information from that service (e.g., your name, email, profile picture) as permitted by that service’s policies and your privacy settings.
- Profile Information: You may optionally provide additional profile information, such as your first name, last name, display name, profile picture, target English variation (US, UK, AU, CA), learning goals (e.g., IELTS target band, CEFR level), and previous learning methods.
- Audio Recordings: When you use the core practice features of the App, we collect the audio recordings of your speeches (“Recordings”).
- User Content: Any other information you choose to provide, such as feedback submitted through support channels or information shared within the Community Mode (if enabled).
- Phone Number (Optional): If you choose to verify your account via phone, we collect your phone number for verification purposes using Firebase Phone Authentication.
- Information Collected Automatically:
- Usage Data: We automatically collect information about how you use the App, such as the features you use, the topics you practice, the frequency and duration of your sessions, your progress metrics (e.g., Words Per Minute, Pauses Per Hundred Words, Average Pause Duration, calculated IELTS/CEFR scores), interactions with AI feedback, and engagement with the community features (if enabled).
- Device Information: We collect information about the device you use to access the App, including hardware model, operating system and version, unique device identifiers (if applicable), browser type (for web), and mobile network information.
- Location Information: We may collect approximate location information (e.g., country) based on your IP address using services like

to understand our user base and potentially customize content or comply with regional requirements. - Log Data: Our servers automatically record information (“Log Data”) created by your use of the App. Log Data may include information such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, the referring web page, pages visited, location, your mobile carrier, device identifiers, search terms, and cookie information.
- Cookies and Similar Technologies (Web): When you use the web version of SpeakPrac, we may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to collect information about your usage patterns and preferences.
- Information from AI Processing:
- Transcripts: Your Recordings are processed by third-party AI services to generate text transcripts.
- Speech Metrics & Scores: AI services analyze your Recordings and transcripts to generate fluency metrics, estimated IELTS band scores, and CEFR levels.
- Improved Transcripts/Feedback: AI services generate corrected or improved versions of your speech transcripts and provide feedback.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for various purposes, including:
- To Provide and Maintain the App: To operate the core functions of SpeakPrac, including recording speeches, providing AI-driven transcription, feedback, metrics, and scoring.
- To Personalize Your Experience: To tailor content, features (like accent-specific feedback), and topic suggestions based on your profile, goals, and usage.
- To Improve the App: To understand how users interact with SpeakPrac, analyze usage patterns, diagnose technical issues, and develop new features and improvements using analytics and crash reporting services.
- AI Processing: To send your Recordings to third-party AI services for transcription, analysis, scoring, and feedback generation. These services process the audio to provide the core value of the App.
- Community Mode (If Enabled by You):
- To allow you to share your Recordings, profile information (like display name, profile picture, country), and progress metrics publicly within the SpeakPrac community section and potentially on other public media (e.g., social media, promotional materials).
- To enable other users and designated English experts to listen to your shared Recordings and provide feedback.
- To showcase user progress and learning journeys to motivate other learners.
- Your explicit consent will be required to enable Community Mode and share your data publicly in this manner.
- Communication: To communicate with you, such as sending verification emails, responding to support requests, sending newsletters or marketing communications (if you opt-in via services like Klaviyo), and notifying you about updates or changes to the App or policies.
- Account Management and Security: To manage your account, authenticate users, prevent fraud, and ensure the security of the App using services like Firebase Auth and App Check.
- Payments: To process subscription payments (if applicable) through third-party payment processors (like Google Play Billing, Stripe). We do not directly store your full payment card details.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or enforceable governmental requests.
3. How We Share Your Information
We may share your information in the following circumstances:
- With Third-Party Service Providers: We share information with third-party vendors, consultants, and other service providers who need access to such information to carry out work on our behalf. These include:
- Cloud Hosting & Database: Firebase (Firestore, Cloud Storage)
- Authentication: Firebase Authentication (including Google Sign-In, Email/Password, Phone Auth)
- Analytics & Crash Reporting: Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics
- AI & Transcription Services: Providers like OpenRouter (or similar)
- Payment Processing: Google Play Billing (Android), Stripe (Web)
- Email Marketing & Communication: Klaviyo, Nodemailer (via Cloud Functions for support)
- Support Services: Tools used to manage support requests.
- App Check: Firebase App Check
- These providers are authorized to use your personal information only as necessary to provide these services to us. Review their respective privacy policies.
- Community Mode (If Enabled by You): As described in Section 2, if you enable Community Mode, your selected Recordings, profile information (display name, picture, country etc.), and progress metrics may be shared publicly within the SpeakPrac community and potentially other public media. You control whether to enable this mode.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect and defend our rights or property, prevent fraud, act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the App, or protect against legal liability.
- Business Transfers: In connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business by another company, your information may be transferred.
4. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. We utilize services like Firebase which provide robust security features. However, please remember that no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your unique password and account information.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the services, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Audio recordings and associated data are retained to allow you to review your progress and for us to improve our AI models, unless you delete specific recordings or your entire account. Upon account deletion request, we will delete or anonymize your personal information in accordance with applicable laws and our data retention policies, subject to necessary retention for legal or backup purposes. Data shared publicly via Community Mode may persist in cached or archived forms or if copied by other users even after you disable the mode or delete your account.
6. Your Choices and Rights
- Account Information: You can access and update certain account information through your App settings.
- Community Mode: You can enable or disable Community Mode through your App settings at any time. Disabling it will prevent future sharing but may not remove content already shared or copied by others.
- Recordings: You can typically review and delete individual recordings within the App.
- Email Communications: You can opt-out of receiving promotional emails from us by following the unsubscribe instructions provided in those emails. You may still receive transactional or administrative emails (e.g., regarding your account or policy updates).
- Data Subject Rights (GDPR/CCPA etc.): Depending on your location, you may have rights such as the right to access, correct, delete, restrict processing of, or request portability of your personal information. To exercise these rights, please contact us using the details below. We will respond to your request in accordance with applicable law.
- Account Deletion: You can request the deletion of your account by contacting us.
7. Children’s Privacy
SpeakPrac is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or a higher age threshold if required by applicable law in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information as quickly as possible. 8. International Data Transfers
Your information, including personal data, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction (e.g., servers used by Firebase, AI providers). By using SpeakPrac, you consent to this transfer. We will take steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
9. Third-Party Links and Services
The App may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not operated by us. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App and updating the Last Updated date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted. Your continued use of the App after the posting of changes constitutes your acceptance of such changes.
